Digitalization as a new domain for Rosstat and IMF cooperation

On January 23rd the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Permanent Representative in the Russian Federation Ms. Annette Kyobe and Rosstat experts discussed methodology for calculation of population incomes and expenditures, development of macroeconomic parameters, including GDP and its structure, reasons for revision of previously published macroeconomic indicators.
There has been a long-term and regular interaction between Rosstat and IMF, in particular, in the following domains: Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS), implementation of the G20 Data Gaps Initiative, the UN Intersecretariat Working Group on National Accounts, international scientific and professional events. Besides, regular meetings of experts are held on development of SNA indicators, harmonization of national statistical methodology with international standards.
Digitalization and data transformation may become a new domain for cooperation. The key tool for modernization is Digital Analytical Platform. Its implementation aims to reduce the reporting burden on respondents, provide primary statistical data, and, as a result, introduce a single information network.
According to the Deputy Head of Rosstat, Mr. Sergey Egorenko, since the IMF is intensifying efforts to utilize big data in statistics and Rosstat has launched its pilot projects, both parties would benefit from experience exchange.
